Is current Tax system or alternatives flat/fair tax system a better way to fund the federal government?

The problem with a flat/fair tax is that it's inherently unfair. A flat tax puts a much higher burden on the lowest income earners since they will have to pay a larger percentage of their disposable income to pay taxes. For lower earners, much more of their income is devoted to the paying for necessities like food, shelter, medicine, etc. That's why you allow them to pay at a lower tax rate.

In addition, in order to collect the same amount of money using a flat tax, the tax rate would have to be increased for the majority of the taxpayers. About the only people who would benefit from it would be those in the highest tax brackets.

The Fed is to blotaed now, it needs a total restart, Something like what Thomas Jefferson said, toss all the cronies and leeched out and start fresh. polotics as usual is a fail.
$500 for a screwdriver that I can buy in Lowes for $3,95 is rather silly.
And why do %89 of the poorest or lowest wage eearners pay for the golf courses and horese stables of the top %2 of the wealthiest citizens, something is very wrong with that setup and a Democratic Republic.

Under "Fair Tax" you would probably pay a lot more than you do now. If this appeals to you, write your congressman and tell him to vote for it.
