Please read my long story and help me to answer the question at the end
Hi everyone, I would like to ask your opinion about my job and future career. I have graduated in business, I major in marketing and I have completed a master degree in it. Unfortunately nowadays I have no chance of getting a job in the marketing field. I did research a little about the industry and if i am not wrong. It is a pretty tough industry to get into. In a magazine a writer suggested me to do cold calling and door knocking to obtain a marketing assistant position, which is a starting level. At the moment I am working in fairly big retail company. I enjoy what I do, but I am not confident that staying the way I am will allow me to earn 50k a year, which is an amount i expect after studying 5 years of university degree. My final grade is between a past and a credit and at the moment I am kinda frustated with the current job market. Plus I have a total of 2 years worth of work experience most of jobs are sales and retail related. I applied for a graduate program and received a reply saying "thanks so much for your effort and such, however we have received a huge number of applications and unfortunately we have decided not to shortlist you."
Thanks for listening my long story. My question to you is:
1) Should i stick with my current employer? After all I enjoy the work, but insecure with my future progress
2) Should i go back to study? maybe I could study design, which will allow me to get into advertising and PR for instance
3) Should i do both and look for another job elsewhere and hoping that my chance will come?
Please share with me your valuable opinions
I really appreaciate this

I feel your frustration, I've been working for 5 years after University Graduation ... I think you should stay with your current employer, since it's hard to find a job that you really enjoy doing, but at the same time try to find something else that can back you up in case the economy goes down even more ... you'll have to decide what you really want to do and pursue it, but I'm not sure what kind of design you are talking about, you mean graphic design ?

hey lovingula.....believe me i totally know where your coming from. I too am a graduate from a UK university, and i have found it sooooo difficult to find or even be considerd for the type of job i want. i feel that we have graduated in the worst economic enviroment possible.
i would stick to what your doing at the moment but look for other oppurtunities to use your skills on the side. in the current climate i think we should be greatful to have a job. I work in a bank, but on the side i run an online affilate marketing business. ive been doing this for 3 months now and am earning on average 500 dollers p/m. but this is increasing month by month. this allows me to use my flare and skills for business to be creative in making money, and relaistically i may be able to stop working in a few years time and concentrate on my online business. all i use is a website called welathy affliates, they give me all the tools, resources, and gudince i need for my business and i pay them just 29.99dollers a month. you should check it out,
