I'm thinking about buying my first home with all the grants and stimulus money it seems like a great time but I have really bad credit...(I'm not kidding its about as bad as you can imagine) should I even consider leaving my apartment?

It is a great time to buy, but if you have bad credit, you may not be able to. So many houses are being foreclosed on now because banks gave loans to people with bad credit who now can't pay their mortgages. So the banks are getting very reluctant to lend money to people with bad credit.
Also, if your credit is bad, you'll get a lousy interest rate (don't let anyone talk you into an adjustable interest rate EVER) and you won't be saving any more money than if you waited a bit, built your credit up, and bought a house later after the market perks up a bit.
