I don't understand. I presume you are talking about a cheque you have drawn. You say it has been paid to "a person now dead". From that I assume you know who the cheque was paid to.What else is there to trace? If you are not talking about your own cheque then obviously you are not entitled to any information.

Putting it simply, you can't. The only way, apart from a criminal investigation, for this information to be disclosed is by a court order. And that would only be issued in ongoing proceedings and, even then, only if it was essential.
