Is it okay to pay more than the full balance on a credit card?

I pay my credit card bills online. Say my credit card balance is $150 and I decide to pay $200, to have a $50 'credit' on my account. Does this hurt my credit score?

Well first your credit card has to allow you to pay over the account balance. When you pay on-line most credit card companies will not even allow you to pay more than your current balance, so right there you would be stopped.

However, if you mailed it in or somehow your credit card allowed you to do it. It would do nothing for your credit score and you are basically giving them "free" use of your money because they are not going to pay you any interest on that balance.

You aren't able to do this. They won't let you pay any more than the card balance.

Does not hurt it, does not help it.

No, it won't hurt your score. The credit card company won't pay you interest on it though. So why do it?

Yes u can pay ,since its a running acct.

Only if you're paying mine. Email me and I will send you my info for you to pay it. Thanks!
