Medi-Cal Income Question?

If my brother has already been approved for Medi-Cal, and is permanently disabled, can if be taken away because his ex-wife moved in with him, and she makes money above the Medi-Cal income limits?

Thanks

If it is Medi-Cal because he is very low income and on SSI, then they will look at the total household income for two people in the household in deciding whether he qualifies for benefits.

If he is on SSDI (social security disability) for more than 24 months he should be on medicare through social security, which is not income based.

Check with his social worker to be sure.

It depends. If your brother and his ex are roommates and they each pay their own bills and pay for their own food, then her income may not count.

And, no one comes in your home to know for sure. This is the way to get around not counting income is to be an ex.

Yes. Medi-Cal, welfare health insurance, is based soley on household income. But if he's disabled and getting SSDI, he should also be getting Medicare, which is NOT based on household income.

In some cases yes in some cases no.
