Permanent partial disability?

I recieved a check from workmans compensation and it is for a one month period of time 10/20-11/18 and in the note section it says permanent partial disability unsch. I have not returned to work and have had 2 back surgeries since August of this year. I am wondering if this is the only check or do they come on a monthly basis. Please help! I am very confused. Thanks

~~Every state has different laws so I can only tell you how Ca works. You receive a check twice a month at about 80% of your normal salary. This is non taxable income.

Once you are deemed permanent and stationary, then the benefits drop to about 40% of your salary still paid bi-monthly. Permanent and stationary is when you are healed and as well as you are going to get. At this time, you then see doctors and end up through a process which rates your entire body loss, future work ability, etc. At this point the WC insurance has to pay you a settlement for the body parts affected and all I listed above, and you may be able to return to work or you may be limited. This is all a long process and when it is as serious as yours, you need an attorney. They work on contingency but get referrals because a good one makes certain you are taken care of, as well as making sure you aren't cheated.

Best of luck, hope the process goes well for you. If you live outside of CA, you would probably need to speak to an attorney to find out how it works in your state.~~

They usually pay you once a month.
